1.      Activity focus and purpose :

To encourage faculty members to promote EMI teaching activities and to enhance the English communication skills of teachers, staff, and students, the College has organized the “On-Campus Foreign Instructor Program and EMI English Conversation Sessions for Faculty, Staff, and Students.”

This activity invites foreign lecturers to engage with the College’s faculty, staff, and students in English discussions on various topics, encouraging participants to share their personal perspectives and reflections. The goal is to improve participants’ English speaking and expression skills. The content is rich and diverse, closely connected to university life, and designed to resonate with students—further stimulating their motivation and confidence in practical English communication.

2.      Activity features and implementation :

This activity, themed “Life Skills 101,” focused on practical life skills such as financial planning, networking, time management, stress management, and adapting to university life. During the session, the teacher encouraged students to reflect on the fact that, in addition to academic and professional knowledge, there are many important skills in daily life that need to be continuously developed. These skills can help students adapt more smoothly to university life and better prepare for entering society in the future.

Through discussion and self-assessment, students examined their current abilities in areas such as financial management, stress management, social skills, and adulting skills, and shared the parts they felt more confident about as well as those they still needed to improve. In addition, the teacher guided students to think about important life skills that are not usually taught in school but are highly practical in daily life, such as understanding insurance, budgeting, building connections, communication, emotional management, and improving productivity.

Through this activity, students not only practiced expressing their personal experiences, thoughts, and needs in English, but also re-examined their own life skills and future preparation, thereby cultivating an attitude of self-management, active learning, and independent problem-solving.

3.      Quality indicators of activities

Thank you to the teacher for the thoughtful instruction. The topic of this session was very interesting, and I was happy to interact and exchange ideas with the teacher and classmates during the class. I hope there will be more similar activities in the future, giving us more opportunities to practice English speaking and share our thoughts.
