Institutional strategy and management
In order to implement the various strategies of the bilingual learning plan for college students and ensure the quality and implementation efficiency of the plan, the school has established a task-oriented school-level dedicated unit, "Bilingual Teaching Promotion Resource Center," with the vice president and provost as the chief of the center, the vice provost serves as the CEO, the international director of the International Affairs Office and the director of the General Education Center serve as the deputy CEO and set up 2 SEC, and down to four groups: the teaching development group, curriculum administration group, learning effectiveness group, and strategic planning group. One team leader will be assigned to each group for planning the promotion, supervision, and management of various businesses. The work of each team is as follows:
1. Teaching Development group: Responsible for EMI teacher training and the establishment of various support systems. (EMI TA, EMI Mentor, Subsidy/incentive mechanism for teachers who offer full English courses, Teacher evaluation, and promotion contribution calculation, etc., and supporting teachers in EMI empowerment)
2. Course Administration group: Responsible for policy planning for courses with different attributes (general education courses, basic fundamental courses, and professional courses) that are taught in English, systematically increasing the number of EMI courses, and establish an EMI course review system to ensure course quality.
3. Learning Effectiveness group: Responsible for exploring/analyzing students' English learning motivation and effectiveness, planning comprehensive guidance resources and support, and gradually improving students' EMI learning outcomes.
4. Strategic planning group: Responsible for discussing and coordinating the bilingual teaching strategies of the resource center and related units, so as to exert the benefits of policy promotion and resource integration.
Management System
In order to ensure the effectiveness and quality of project execution, we adopt the PDCA cycle mode: Plan → Do → Check → Action to manage this project. The "Bilingual Teaching Promotion Resource Center" regularly holds management examination meetings to track the implementation of specific plans and performance goals. The various management examination meetings are as follows:
1. Bilingual Teaching Promotion Resource Center Meeting: It was established for the smooth promotion of the plan business and was convened by the director of the center. In addition to tracking the progress of the plan implementation, it also worked with the relevant teaching or administrative units to conduct cross-unit consultations on difficulties in the implementation of the plan, and to make rolling adjustments to the implementation strategy.
2. Faculty EMI Promotion Group Meeting (College of Medicine): In the early stage of the plan, the key training colleges—“College of Medicine” were taken as the forerunner, and the dean of the college held monthly meetings to control the progress of various policies in the college, the achievement of performance goals, the progress of fund use and reporting, and to communicate and coordinate problems.
3. General education center EMI promotion group meeting: The director of the general education center holds bi-monthly meetings to control the progress of various policies in the center, the achievement of performance goals, the progress of fund use and reporting, and communication and coordination obstacles question.
