1.     Activity focus and purpose :

In response to the "Bilingual Learning Project", "one-to-one" EMI teacher consultation and coaching were provided to the instructor (Lu Yi-Wei, Assistant Professor) teaching "Python Programming," an EMI course offered by Center of Fundamental Science. The consultation mainly includes the following parts:

Lesson preparation

1. To assist the instructor in planning the language used in an EMI lesson: including (1) "instructional language": such as sign-posting language, subject-specific language, academic language, (2) "classroom language" and (3) "interactional language".

2. To assist the instructor in applying trans-languaging strategies and "scaffolding" strategies in an EMI lesson;

3. To assist the instructor in conducting EMI teaching drills and rehearsals;

Classroom observation

4. To observe the class while the instructor is teaching a lesson (classroom observation)

Post-observation feedback and discussion

5. After the class observation, the teacher consultant will discuss with the instructor and give feedback and suggestions to help the instructor improve EMI teaching prowess.
