Faculty members and first-year students of the College of Dental Medicine.

Number of participants :

49

1.      Activity focus and purpose :

To enhance students' English proficiency and professional skills, this activity integrates 3D printing technology into the courses "Dental Morphology" and "Oral Anatomy." Through the use of 3D-printed models, students can gain a more intuitive understanding of dental and anatomical structures. Additionally, the activity employs an English-medium interactive teaching approach, simulating clinical procedures to help students familiarize themselves with the practical application of language in real-world scenarios. This not only enables students to master professional English terminology related to dental and craniofacial anatomy but also strengthens their clinical skills in dentistry.

2.      Activity features and implementation :

This activity integrated the professional knowledge of "Dental Morphology" and "Oral Anatomy" with innovative 3D printing technology, aiming to enhance students' professional skills and English proficiency in preparation for future clinical practice. The event featured a presentation by Lecturer Hui-Ching Lin, who shared insights on the application of 3D printing technology and its practical use in dentistry. The activity adopted a fully interactive English teaching model to improve students' mastery of professional English terminology and practical application, deepening their learning experience. Through the visual presentation of 3D models, students gained an intuitive understanding of dental and oral structures while receiving real-time guidance during interactive sessions, achieving excellent learning outcomes. The event was highly praised by all participants.

3.      Quality indicators of activities

1.      Seeing 3D printing for the first time, I feel I have gained a better understanding of dental morphology and materials. It's a great course.

2.      Being able to see the actual models is truly amazing. Seeing the content from the textbook come to life is quite shocking.

3.      It was a very interesting class experience. 3D printing can create an entire skull and individual teeth, which is very cool!

4.      Learning how to operate 3D printing was also my first time encountering it (the printed teeth are so cute… I want to take them home…).

5.      Experiencing the application of technology in dentistry.

6.      It was a very interesting class experience. 3D printing can create an entire skull and individual teeth, which is very cool!

7.      It’s nice to learn about new technologies and trends.

8.      You can create dental models.

9.      It’s my first time seeing a 3D printer—very cool.

10.  I gained a deeper understanding of the detailed structure of teeth and learned one of the skills we might need in the future as dental hygiene students.

11.  This class taught me the methods and processes of 3D printing teeth, and I learned a lot.

12.  I often hear about 3D printing, but this is my first time seeing it in person. It’s very interesting and amazing (I want that tooth!).

13.  Seeing the connection between technology and professional knowledge makes it more interesting, not just textbook knowledge.

14.  The 3D-printed skull is very unique and rarely seen. I learned a lot.

15.  It was my first time encountering this technology and machinery. I gained a lot from it.

16.  Seeing the printed teeth in person was very cool, and it was also my first time touching a skull model.

17.  The content was practical and rich, and it was an eye-opening experience.

18.  The printing technology is very advanced and novel.

19.  I learned a lot of new and innovative knowledge, which was very interesting.

20.  I gained further understanding of new technologies. Combining them with class knowledge provided a clearer understanding of clinical applications.

21.  It was interesting to see the actual 3D-printed items and machines in person.

22.  Very interesting, and I got to see the application of dental morphology in practice.
