1. Activity focus and purpose : To encourage faculty members to promote EMI teaching activities and to enhance the English communication skills of teachers, staff, and students, the College has organized the “On-Campus Foreign Instructor Program and EMI English Conversation Sessions for Faculty, Staff, and Students.” This activity invites foreign lecturers to engage with the College’s faculty, staff, and students in English discussions on various topics, encouraging participants to share their personal perspectives and reflections. The goal is to improve participants’ English speaking and expression skills. The content is rich and diverse, closely connected to university life, and designed to resonate with students—further stimulating their motivation and confidence in practical English communication. 2. Activity features and implementation : This session focused on the theme “Technology and Life,” exploring how social media, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies are changing the way we live and interact. Students shared in English their favorite technological products and indispensable applications—such as smartphones or Instagram—explaining how these tools bring convenience and enjoyment to their daily lives. They also discussed the amount of time spent using various technologies each day, including social media, gaming, and note-taking apps. In addition, participants exchanged views on the devices or apps they dislike the most at school or work and the reasons behind their opinions. The session concluded with reflections on the potential problems caused by overreliance on technology, such as how to identify accurate information, protect personal privacy, and avoid the decline of face-to-face interactions. 3. Quality indicators of activities Today’s topic was very relatable to everyday life, and the whole session felt like having a relaxed conversation and sharing ideas with the teacher and classmates—it was really fun! Although my English isn’t very fluent, the teacher always responded and followed up at the right moments, so it truly felt like real English communication. The teacher also adjusted responses according to each student’s English level, and classmates helped each other, creating a very comfortable atmosphere. Being able to practice English speaking through everyday life topics made this a wonderful and practical activity! |
