1. Activity focus and purpose : To enhance the EMI teaching capabilities of medical school faculty, this series of eight targeted training sessions was led by Dr. Wen Ma, an English teaching expert recommended by the American Institute in Taiwan. The sessions focused on presentation design techniques, managing teaching pace, accurate pronunciation of professional terminology, and improving teacher-student interaction through questioning, word banks, and sentence stems. Participating faculty actively engaged in practice, significantly improving clarity in classroom delivery and interaction effectiveness.
2. Activity features and implementation : This series emphasized practicality, addressing key EMI teaching needs such as presentation design, teaching pace control, pronunciation accuracy, and classroom interaction strategies. The training integrated case analysis, hands-on practice, and peer feedback to help faculty apply what they learned in real teaching scenarios.
Participants demonstrated a high level of engagement, with lively classroom discussions. Faculty members reported significant improvements in presentation design, pronunciation of professional terms, and interaction planning, with immediate application in their teaching. Techniques such as "questioning strategies" and "interaction design" were particularly well-received, leading to increased student engagement and learning outcomes. This program highlights the medical school's commitment to professional development in EMI teaching and lays a strong foundation for further refinement of related training initiatives.
