1. Activity focus and purpose: 1. This activity will showcase the situation of English as a medium of instruction in the class through micro-teaching and will invite American scholar Keleigh M. Muzaffar and KMU teachers to serve as classroom observers. By using simulated teaching, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of our own preparation for English-medium instruction and to assess student responses to the curriculum. Concurrently, we expect to establish effective peer observation guidelines and evaluation criteria, laying a strong foundation for nurturing EMI course instructors in our College. 2. To enhance the EMI teaching competence of our college instructors, American scholar Keleigh M. Muzaffar and Swiss scholar Philipp H. Fluri, DDr.habil, will provide 1 hour of professional consultation service. The consultation will cover topics such as advice on English as a medium of instruction, lesson plan design recommendations, and guidance related to offering EMI courses.
This activity has invited American scholar Keleigh M. Muzaffar and in-house teachers to serve as classroom observers. The activity involves a 20-minute micro-teaching, with students participating as simulated students, enabling the demonstrating teachers to interact more authentically with the students. Through teacher demonstrations and feedback from both domestic and international observers, the demonstrating teachers can catch the key points in EMI classroom instruction and apply effective teaching techniques to enhance teaching effectiveness. This significantly improves interactions between teachers and students, as well as among students themselves, during the class. By using EMI teaching techniques, student engagement and interest in learning are greatly increased, and teachers feel more confident when delivering lectures in English.
