1. Activity focus and purpose :
To align with the Ministry of Education's policy on English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), experienced foreign teachers are arranged to lead small-group (10 people) English corner activities to enhance the confidence and competence of local teachers in using English as a teaching language. By creating a conducive environment and being guided by the foreign teachers, our school's teachers are provided with opportunities to improve their oral proficiency and confidence in using English.
2. Activity features and implementation :
In every session, the teacher designed different topics for conversation and she began some vocabulary eg. success, goal, ambitious, competitive, salty etc which were related to the topics. She led the participants to pronounce the vocabulary and the sentences. After then, the participants followed the worksheet to have conversation in pairs. At the same time, the teacher also involved herself in the conversation and corrected their pronunciations. The participants would talk about the information they got by using their own words. They had the chance to practice their oral ability by this way. Besides, the participants would explain what they learned from the short paragraph. Although we had different faculties in every week, the lecturer Niki worked hard to remember every participants’ names. From the participants’ feedback, we know the vivid way of her teaching was praised by KMU faculties. We will invite her again for the next English Corner for Teachers.
